Mcafee crashes your Mac
The McAfee Total Protection virus software crashed my MacBook Pro. I spoke to several McAfee tech support people to have them remote in and fix the issue. They could not and offered me a two year software extension, which they are now telling me different things. Regardless, I told the technician I would gladly take the extension if they could get it to work. Did I mention I ended up buying a new MacBook Pro because the software messed up my computer. The technician could not fix the issue and finally admitted that the McAfee software is currently NOT working on Apple products and they don't know when it will be resolved. When I pointed out this fact and that an extension in coverage wouldn't help me if the software doesn't work and they don't know when it will be fixed. So, a refund was offered to me which I took. I submitted my purchase receipt as instructed and waited. I waited three weeks with no updates, so I just contacted them for status. The representative I just spoke with said refund is not possible since I purchased it from a third party retailer, Fry's before they went bankrupt. I would have to contact them for a refund. I explained that McAfee should stand behind their guarantee and not Fry's because Fry's isn't the problem, its the software that's the problem. So, the representative said there's nothing they can do about it and that I will have to take it up with Fry's. So Apple users, STAY AWAY from McAfee because it will crash your Apple product. The date on the issue started May 2022 and my conversation with the representative today is 7/20/2022.

Great until you need support
Great until you need support.
I tried to install a second license after an email from McAfee inviting me to do that and seeing my subscription said I had only one of three in use but it wouldn't let me.
Contacted customer service via online chat and was told my product won't support my proposed new device and someone would ring me. That person, despite assuring me she was 'definitely going to help me today' failed to do so and said someone else would ring me. Several days later that happened but the call dropped and he didn't redial me.
Days later I had two emails, the first telling me to ring them (at my expense) on an international number then the second, a few minutes after, telling me my case is resolved. Dreadful Customer experience

McAfee stops working on my Mac every…
McAfee stops working on my Mac every couple of days. The only thing I can do is unistall and reinstall. I contacted customer service and they called me back at 5am. Then I received an email that said they tried to contact me and closed the request due to no response. I am sorry for not answering so early in the day. This company is TOO hard to work with - purchase your antivirus from a different company.
I have now since a couple of months…
I have now since a couple of months been on/off with the socalled Support at McAfee as i have been bombarded with pop-ups for various products within McAfee - apparently these pop-ups are from 3rd parties, at least this is what the Support is telling me and they cannot help me to get rid of these. Meaning i have been paying for something which is not working and does not protect me anyway. What a scam - i will never use them again and seriously recommend to others : do not enter into any business/protection from McAfee - Support is not able/willing to help anyway
McAfee Total Protection
McAfee Total Protection - does not work in Windows 11
I purchased a desktop over Christmas and had no choice but to get Windows 11 with the desktop.
I have spent days trying to uninstall and reinstall McAfee to have it functioning correctly.
I have spent a week working with McAfee as they uninstalled and re-installed the McAfee Total Security
Software to no avail – it just does not work. It does not install correctly and causes your system to
be stuck using Microsoft Defender antivirus with no firewall.
If anyone is on Windows 11, could you click on Start button, and enter Virus & Threat Protection in the search box followed by clicking on Manage providers (right column near the center) to verify If you have a similar problem.
When I do this, this is what appears:
Antivirus
------------
McAfee VirusScan
McAfee VirusScan is turned off.
Microsoft Defender Antivirus
Microsoft Defender Antivirus is turned on.
Firewall
-----------
McAfee Firewall
McAfee Firewall is turned off.
Microsoft Firewall
Microsoft Firewall is turned off.
Web protection
---------------------
No providers
The pc is up to date with firmware and windows updates.
I uninstalled McAfee and installed Bitdefender and Bitdefender works perfectly.
I do not recommend McAfee for both their product and support. They promise to call you back and NEVER call you back for days. They have horrible support.

Unable to get support & "BOT" haven!
I renewed my McAfee subscrition but now I am recieving suspicious emails from unknown sender that my subscrition has expired. For 2 days now I have tried to reach Mcafee to forward them the suspicious emails & report the issue. I can NOT get to speak with an actual person. That is all I can do is chat with the virtual robot & accomplish NOTHING!!!! The virtual robot keeps directing me to read articles which is difficult to do since I have a visual impairment. So in my opinion, there is no customer support!!!!
Swerve.
First the online portal is not fit for purpose. I didn't want an auto-renewal, but my only option to cancel it would cancel my subscription entirely. I thought I'd wait til my subscription was coming to a close as it doesn't do much but prevent sites I know are trusted from loading and offer to clear trackers every now and then, which my computer can do by itself. Anyway, a month before my subscription was due they whip £100 out of my bank, no notification. I try to cancel this on the website which sends me in circles from cancel to a help page back to a cancel page and back. So I have to call them. Its a bad line with an person that has poor English. They try to discount me by £40 to stay. I say no. They waffle away for 25 minutes (kudos to them) about benefits and then offer me a 'special price' of £29.99. It's an absolute con. How can they just whip a premium rate out of your account without warning (I'd have cancelled the whole thing if I had it - that's how), then drop the price by 70%. Terrible product. Terrible strategy that breeds distrust in a brand that purports to keep you 'safe'. Dodge like a COVID cough.

McAfee a bunch of thieves
Accidentally paid twice for the virus software for use on one device. When you log in to request a refund under subscriptions, you get a message telling you that you can’t have a refund and to call a number that is impossible to get through to. You can’t speak to anyone to at least explain what happened. It’s absolutely diabolical. The worst customer experience and so very frustrating. Unfortunately, I don’t have money to throw away. I paid with PayPal and have raised a dispute.

Thieving gits
Thieving gits. They make it as hard as possible for you to turn off auto-renew, and then tried to take 64.99. Its absolute bloatware as well - and will interfere with your other programs. Cancelled the debit card in the end - so they cant rob me. Stay well clear of it. Years ago they may have been trustworthy - but they gone to pot.

McAfee is worse than actually having a virus on your computer
Simply trying to install McAfee on my Mac, bought from a shop, got a product key. I just need to enter product key and download and install right? Sadly not… continual error messages and prompts to change all my settings on my laptop. Called customer support and had one woman essentially have full access to my laptop. After doing exactly what I had done (and also managing to delete some of my files in the process), she informs me that she doesn’t really know the Mac OS so she will pass me over to that team. 40 minutes later, I hear ‘hello’ and then I am cut off. I call again and speak to a supposed Mac specialist. I have a reference number which will apparently make this entire process quicker. Well, what do you know, the Mac specialist doesn’t know either. I am told that this has been escalated to the ‘special specialist’ team as many users are having this issue. Really, do not bother, this company are absolute scammers.

Outstanding Support
This morning I worked with Abhiram Sajeev from McAfee customer support to help me update my protection plan. He was AMAZING! He was so knowledgeable and patient. He also helped with a Windows update I needed. He is clearly an asset to this company.

Horrible Customer Service
This was last purchased on a credit card from 2020, which my late husband had. He purchased this for our daughter when she went away to college. We always had our own bank accounts at different banks, as he was self employed. Now how this auto renewed on an expired card from 2020 from my paypal account, which he was never part of and taken from my bank account is beyond me. McAfee states that they pulled it from the bank that the credit card was linked to, which was closed almost 2 years now and only in his and daughters name. I had to go in and update the payment in my profile to the credit card belonging to may bank linked to paypay to get the refund. Customer Service also stated it would be refunded to my credit card, wrong just get a text the refund is coming thru Paypal. Now their customer service people hung up on me three times, called me by the wrong name, and talked down to me the entire phone call. Well be so happy to not have their service any more.

Still awful
I've chased a refund on several occasions. It was last promised in April.
Still waiting.
Rubbish customer service.
If they were UK based I would submit a moneyclaim on line.
Don’t Join
Keep saying I have to rejoin. I have never been with them. Trying to pressure by sending loads of emails. Not to be trusted

McAfee is useless…
I switched from one company to McAfee yesterday but today I will be cancelling that!!!!!!! I tried to install it on my Mac spent several hours messing and finally gave up and call MCAFEE. 3 attempts later i get one woman(Asian of course ) who could NOT get my email address after I spelt it out 3 times. So i asked for someone else, she refused, so I asked for a supervisor, she said we don't have any available!!!!!!!! So I called again not much better but he did finally say " he needed to transfer me to the Apple/McAfee group, so i waited maybe 10 minutes then got some other Asian woman she kept asking me if I had a PC or a MAC???!!!!!! isn't this the Apple/McAfee group? Well she wasn't able to answer that so I asked for a supervisor and I did finally get one(MAYBE) and she said she would have to set up a call with one of her second level techs to help me. So that was set for today at 7am PST. Well it is now 7:25am PST and NO PHONE CALL. IF this is the best a computer company can do well they can STUFF IT!
